2019 Hauler safety outreach in glendale

Yesterday (3/28/19) we celebrated our first Hauler Outreach event at the City of Glendale Landfill.

Special thanks go to Ernie Ruiz and Bill Stout (City of Glendale) and the many volunteers from Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Flagstaff.

Landfill visitors (drivers, contractors, and residents) were invited to stop to enjoy a snack and cold beverage and take the SWANA Safety Pledge
#SWANASafety

We had a great first outing and got 45 operators/drivers and contractors to take the Safety Pledge. We also talked with residents who were glad get some valuable tips on the hazards of the landfill.

We hope that this event and other future Hauler Outreach events will help the community to understand our plight to increase safety for citizens and drivers in their respective communities

welcome to swana arizona

Welcome to the Arizona Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America  (AZSWANA). With a membership of more than 300 local individuals representing Arizona municipalities, private haulers, and major corporations, our chapter is the leader in addressing solid waste issues affecting Arizona.

For over 40 years, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has been the leading professional association in the solid waste field in North America. Our association serves over 8,000 members nationally and thousands more with conferences, certifications and publications.

SWANA has trained thousands in today's trends and tomorrow's emerging technologies. The foundation for our effort is rooted in 7 technical divisions. These divisions are made up of professionals who want to network and learn from their colleagues. Technical Division Members are keenly interested in shaping the future of their fields. Each division is led by volunteers who work on everything from setting the technical sessions at their division's annual symposium, to making sure that their voices are heard by elected officials.

Our commitment to education is not only about advancing our field, it's also about advancing your career, your community, and your life.

We want to hear from you! Do you have any news about our industry you would like to share? Please feel free to submit your article to Dave Bennett.
