About Us

Mission

SWANA's national mission is defined as "advancing the practice of environmentally and economically sound management of municipal solid waste in North America."

Arizona Chapter members comprise a diverse collection of dedicated individuals working daily on waste management solutions for Arizona communities.  Members are actively involved in the areas of waste collection and transfer systems; material recovery, recycling, and reuse; and landfill engineering and operations.  As a result of the continually changing solid waste field, there exists an ongoing need for members to upgrade their skills.  The goal of the Arizona Chapter is to regionally assist our members in meeting work challenges effectively and professionally.

Accordingly, our chapter objectives include responding to the changing needs of our members by promoting education, innovation, and communication; and providing cutting-edge information through continuing education and member professional development services.  The Arizona Chapter accomplishes these objectives by encouraging member participation in our division committees; sponsoring general membership meetings, facility tours, and technical training sessions; distributing quarterly newsletters; and providing statewide membership assistance and networking opportunities.
